An impeller (1) and a vortex-type air pump (100). The impeller comprises: an impeller body (11), the middle part of which is provided with a mounting portion for sleeving on a driving shaft (21); two annular bosses (13), which are respectively arranged on two sides of the impeller body (11) and are formed by means of surrounding the mounting portion; two arc-shaped grooves (131), which are respectively formed along edge parts of the annular bosses (13); and a plurality of blades (14), which are positioned in the arc-shaped grooves (131). The section lines of the groove bottom surfaces of the arc-shaped grooves (131) are arc-shaped, and the depth of the arc-shaped grooves (131) is gradually increased and then decreased from the direction close to the mounting portion to the direction far away from the mounting portion, such that the bearing strength of the portions of the annular bosses (13) close to one side of the mounting portion is improved. In addition, the plurality of blades (14) are located in the arc-shaped grooves (131) and are fixedly connected to the annular bosses (13) in a semi-surrounding manner, such that the contact area of the blades (14) and the annular bosses (13) can be increased.
