Abstract:
A system for implementing controls (12, 13) on a software interface. Each control is formed by an image layer (30) which is visible on the interface, and one or more masks which are linked to control instructions. The masks are generally bitmaps in which colour information determines the instructions. A user positions an interface device such as a mouse (35) pointer over appropriate parts of the image to request an action. The position of the pointer is related to each mask and an instruction is determined according to the colour of the mask at that position.
