Abstract:
An information processing device and method for position identification at small granularity with high accuracy, a program, and an information processing system are disclosed. A portable terminal has a GPS module and a camera. In a position identification model construction phase, a position identification model is constructed from an image sequence obtained by the camera, associated with position information collected by the GPS module and the like, and stored. In a position identification phase, the current position in a global area is identified by the GPS module, and the current position in a local area is identified on the basis of the position identification model selected from the identification result and the image sequence obtained at the time. This invention can be applied to portable terminals such as notebook personal computers, PDAs and portable telephones.
