Abstract:
Provided is an ink charging method capable of charging a printing head having a plurality of ink supply ports with ink, so that the air which will cause a discharge failure may not be left in a passage member. In the ink charging method, a suction member having a pump is hermetically mounted in a head unit having a plurality of ink supply ports, so that the ink in an ink supply source may be sucked by the pump and fed to the individual ink supply ports through the passage member having one ink passage communicating with the ink supply source and a plurality of branch passages branched from the ink passage and communicating individually with the ink supply ports. The ink charging method is characterized in interrupting the suction when the ink passes through one branch passage, in waiting for a predetermined time period till the air in the passage member moves to the branched portions, and in performing the suction again after the air moved to the branched portions.
