Abstract:
An ECU is provided with a processing device that repeatedly executes air volume calculation processing for estimating the flow rate of intake air. The processing device acquires a detection value from a flow rate sensor and causes a storage device to store said value, causes the storage device to store the time when the detection value from the flow rate sensor was acquired as a first time stamp, and causes the storage device to store the time when an air quantity computation process was executed as a second time stamp. The air quantity computation process of the processing device calculates an execution interval of a current computation process on the basis of the second time stamp, sets a cumulative period having the same time width as the execution interval of the current computation process on the basis of the second time stamp, calculating the cumulative mass of intake air in the cumulative period on the basis of the detection value from the flow sensor and the first time stamp, and estimates the flow rate of intake air in the cumulative period using the cumulative mass and the execution interval from the computation results.
