Abstract:
A control shaft (18) and the lower ends (15A) of control links (15) in a double-link piston-crank mechanism are disposed inside an oil pan upper (31). The oil pan upper (31) and an oil pan lower (33) attached to the bottom wall (32) thereof are communicated through an oil pan opening (38) formed in the bottom wall (32). An oil trap section (40) having a closed cross-sectional structure which extends along a cylinder-axis direction and guides oil downward is formed in the side wall (34) of the oil pan upper (31). A partition section (42) is erected on the bottom wall (32) of the oil pan upper (31), and between this partition section (42) and the side wall (34) of the oil pan upper (31) is formed an oil-guiding passage (43) for guiding oil flowing out of the lower part of the oil trap section (40) into the oil pan opening (38).
