Disclosed are an intra prediction method and an apparatus using the method. The intra prediction method comprises the following steps: setting a bottom right pixel as a DC prediction value; interpolating the bottom right pixel and an n-top reference pixel to calculate an n-row prediction value, and interpolating the bottom right pixel and an n-left reference pixel to calculate an n-column prediction value; and performing bidirectional linear interpolation to calculate prediction values of pixels contained in prediction units excluding an n-column and an n-row. According to the present invention, an improved intra prediction method is used to generate a prediction block near the value of an original block thus improving encoding/decoding efficiency during performing the intra prediction method.
