Abstract:
The present invention relates to an iris recognition apparatus, comprising: a storage unit in which final eye image data, and location information about and the pixel values of final pupil pixels included in a final pupil area are stored; and an iris extraction unit which splits the final eye image data into as many as unit areas for iris estimation along a predetermined column direction on the basis of the outermost pixel row on one side of the final pupil area, thereby generates a plurality of iris estimation areas, calculates the average pixel values of the final eye image data, corresponding to the respective iris estimation areas, and estimates an iris area by means of the difference between the average pixel values of each iris estimation area and a succeeding iris estimation area, spaced therefrom by a predetermined number in the order, among the plurality of iris estimation areas.
