Abstract:

[PROBLEMS] Provided are a joint assembly facilitating attachment/detachment of a unit cover for protecting a constant velocity universal joint and improving workability of assembling a total assembly into a vehicle, and a total bearing device assembly for a drive wheel. [MEANS FOR SOLVING THE PROBLEMS] Radially extending plate-like joining surfaces (7b, 7c) are formed by dividing a cylindrical elastomer unit cover (7) into two parts by a plane including the axis. Hook parts (35a, 35b) are formed on the outer edges of the joining surfaces, at positions axially offset from each other. Recesses/projections (34, 36) constructed from projections (34a, 36a), which are formed by expanding the forward ends of the joining surfaces, and from recesses (34b, 36b), which has an annular groove (38a) formed at generally the center of the inner diameter part (38) of the joining surfaces, are formed at generally the center of the joining surfaces (7b, 7c). The recesses/projections (34, 36) are engaged with each other by elastic deformation when the joining surfaces (7b, 7c) abut on each other to detachably fit them to the constant velocity universal joint (3).
