Title:
LABEL
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2001/075844
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A label which has such adhesiveness or holding power that it does not peel from the container, such as bottle, even when a physical force is applied thereto during distribution or water deposits thereon as a result of, e.g., dew condensation in a refrigerator and which, on the other hand, has such satisfactory strippability that it after use can be easily peeled off by immersion in water or washing with water. The label comprises a base (1), a water-repellent coating layer (3) formed in a striped pattern on the back side of the base (1), and an adhesive layer (5) formed by coating on approximately the whole back side of the base (1) so as to cover the water-repellent coating layer (3). Due to the constitution, the label not only has sufficient adhesiveness or holding power, but also can be easily peeled off by immersion in water or washing with water because the water-repellent coating layer (3) serves to form water passageways through which water penetrates into the adhesive layer (5).
