Abstract:
The lane departure suppression device is provided with: a torque control unit for outputting a torque control signal for instructing an actuator to generate an automatic steering torque to be used for suppressing a vehicle from departing from a lane in which the vehicle is currently traveling; a driver steering torque detection unit for detecting a driver steering torque, that is, a torque applied by the driver to the steering wheel of the vehicle; and a control cancellation assessment unit for assessing whether or not the automatic steering torque should be brought to zero on the basis of a comparison of a first cancellation threshold value and a second cancellation threshold value which is lower than the first cancellation threshold value with the driver steering torque detected by the driver steering torque detection unit, said first cancellation threshold value being used for determining whether or not a steering operation performed by the driver is an abrupt operation. When the cancellation assessment unit has assessed that the automatic steering torque is to be brought to zero, the torque control unit outputs the torque control signal so as to bring the automatic steering torque to zero in accordance with a preset torque change pattern, wherein a pattern by which the automatic steering torque is immediately brought to zero is used as the torque change pattern when the driver steering torque is equal to or higher than the first cancellation threshold value, or a pattern by which the automatic steering torque is gradually decreased is used as the torque change pattern when the driver steering torque is lower than the first cancellation threshold value but is equal to or higher than the second cancellation threshold value
