Abstract:
A lead-acid battery of the present invention comprises: a battery container (2) having a plurality of cell chambers (2a) each housing a plurality of electrode plate groups (1); straps (3a, 3b) for coupling the ears of the same polarity electrode plates of the electrode plate groups housed in each of the cell chambers; and connection components (4a, 4b) connected to the straps and connecting the different polarity straps of the electrode plate groups to each other. A positive electrode lattice (8) consists of an expanding lattice having a mesh lattice bone (8b) expanded under an upper frame bone (8a). The connection components are formed from the side portions of the straps in a direction parallel with the longitudinal direction of the upper frame bone. When the total area of the surface of the upper frame bone on the side contacting the lattice bone is denoted by A and the summation of the areas where the lattice bone contacts the upper frame bone is denoted by B, the ratio B/A is 0.34 to 0.63, inclusive.
