The invention relates to a length-adjustable support device (1), comprising a first rod (2), a second rod (3), a mounting means formed on the first rod (2) for axially movably mounting the second rod (3) on the first rod (2) such that the second rod (3) can perform a translational motion relative to the first rod (2), and a movable fastening element for interlockingly axially fastening the movable second rod (3) to the first rod (2) by interlockingly fastening the fastening element to a mating interlocking-connection element (13) provided for interlocking connection to the fastening element (7). The aim of the invention is that the interlockingly locked length of the support device (1) can be temporarily adjustde by changing the length of the support device (1). This aim is achieved in that the length-adjustable support device (1) comprises a mechanism and, because of the mechanism, the axial translational motion of the second rod (3) causes an additional rotational motion of the second rod (3), the second rod (3) thus being movable between a first rotational position and a second rotational position relative to the first rod (2) by means of the axial translation motion of the second rod (3), the fastening element and the mating interlocking-connection element (13) being in mechanical contact with each other in the first rotational position and the mechanical contact between the fastening element (7) and the mating interlocking-connection element (13) being released in the second rotational position.
