　Where the movable range of an optical system has been restricted by a focus limiter, a replacement lens will drive the focus lens unit within the restricted range, without regard to settings made from the camera body. When doing so, there are instances in which focus limit information cannot be exchanged between the replacement lens and the camera body, making it impossible to control the system in such a way that settings made from the camera body are effectively put to use. This lens barrel is provided with: a focus lens unit constituted by a replacement lens mounted onto an imaging device, and capable of movement in the direction of the optical axis; an actuator for moving the focus lens unit along the optical axis; a drive controller for controlling driving by the actuator; and a setting unit with which it is possible to set the range of motion of the focus lens unit, to either a first range or a second range specifying a permissible range of motion of the focus lens unit, which ranges differ from one another in terms of the position of at least one or the other of the ends thereof. When the range of motion of the focus lens unit has been set by the setting unit to either the first range or the second range, the drive controller cancels the range of motion setting, in the event that an instruction has been received from the imaging device.
