Abstract:

A camera control unit (45) performs drive control of a zoom lens of an image pickup optical system block (31) in accordance with a zoom operation received by an operation input unit (44) or a zoom control signal received by a wireless communication unit (41). The camera control unit (45) makes a zoom-position change speed a different speed by using the drive control according to a zoom operation and the drive control according to a zoom control signal. Consequently, the zoom-position change speed can be switched between a speed that is suitable for a zoom operation received by the operation input unit (44) and a speed that is suitable for a zoom operation of a zoom control signal, i.e., a zoom operation carried out using an external device, and therefore, whether the zoom operation is carried out by an image pickup device or an external device, the zoom operation can be carried out with favorable operability.
