Abstract:

This lens system is equipped with a plurality of lens elements arranged from the object side to the image plane side, and a diaphragm positioned between the plurality of lens elements. The plurality of lens elements include a plurality of freeform lenses which have freeform surfaces which are asymmetrical between a first direction and a second direction which intersect one another. At least one freeform lens is positioned on the image plane side of the diaphragm. At least one freeform lens, in which the lens thickness T1 in the first direction at the maximum height of a light beam on the axis and the lens thickness T2 in the second direction at the maximum height of a light beam on the axis satisfy T1/T2<0.8, is positioned on the object side of the diaphragm.
