Abstract:
A light detecting system (100) comprises: a light source (20) that emits a light pulse to a part to be inspected of a living body; a light detecting device (30) that detects a reflected light pulse generated from the light pulse reflected by the part to be inspected; and a processing circuit (42,44) that controls the light source and the light detecting device and acquires distance data pertaining to the distance between the light detecting device and the living body. The processing circuit causes the light source to emit the light pulse, causes the light detecting device to start detection of the reflected light pulse when a first time period has elapsed since the light pulse was emitted, and causes the light detecting device to finish the detection of the reflected light pulse when a predetermined exposure time has elapsed since the detection of the reflected light pulse was started. When a time point at which the distance deviates from a first range is set to a first time point and a time point at which the temporal change in the distance falls within a predetermined range after the first time point is set to a second time point, whether or not the first time period is to be changed is determined on the basis of the distance at the second time point.
