Abstract:
A motor drive device (10) comprises a series circuit of a Zener diode (104) and a detection resistor (105) connected between a gate terminal of a first high-side transistor (11) and ground, a comparator (106) for comparing a voltage across the detection resistor (105) with a reference voltage Vr, a first drive transistor (102) for short-circuiting the gate and source terminals of the first high-side transistor (11) by means of a detection signal output by the comparator (106), a control circuit (5), and an OR circuit (108) which sets the first drive transistor (102) to an open state regardless of a drive signal from the control circuit (5), thereby suppressing a rise in a power supply voltage Vc by turning on the first high-side transistor (11) if the power supply voltage Vc rises and the gate terminal of the first high-side transistor (11) reaches to or above a prescribed voltage.
