Abstract:
A light detection device (1) according to the present disclosure comprises a photoelectric conversion region (3), a floating diffusion region (4), a ground region (5), and a vertical gate (6). The photoelectric conversion region (3) is provided in a semiconductor layer (2) and converts incident light into a signal charge. The floating diffusion region (4) is provided in the semiconductor layer (2) and holds the signal charge transferred from the photoelectric conversion region (3). The ground region (5) is provided in the semiconductor layer (2) and is connected to ground. The vertical gate (6) is provided between the floating diffusion region (4) and the ground region (5), extends from a major surface of the semiconductor layer (2) toward the photoelectric conversion region (3) in the thickness direction of the semiconductor layer (2), and is disposed so that a longitudinal surface thereof faces the floating diffusion region (4).
