Provided is a light diffusion sheet having a high light transmittance and air permeability. The light diffusion sheet (1) is formed by weaving a warp (2) consisting of a tape-like monofilament and a weft (3) consisting of a multi-filament by plain weaving. As the light diffusion sheet (1) is formed by weaving a warp of monofilament and a weft of multi-filament, while the thickness is set to be 0.02 mm to not more than 1 mm, the total light transmittance in the visible light range is not less than 60% and smaller than 100% and the diffuse transmittance is not less than 55% and smaller than 95%, and accordingly, the light diffusion sheet has sufficient characteristics as a light diffusion sheet for illumination. Also, the air permeability is not less than 0.01 cm3/cm2/s and smaller than 30 cm3/cm2/s at an air permeation pressure of 125 Pa, and accordingly, heat generated in the light source can be effectively radiated.
