Disclosed is a light emitting element drive device wherein the power loss and heat generation at the current drive circuit units of light emitting elements are reduced. The light emitting element drive device drives N (where N is an integer greater than 1) groups of light emitting elements, and includes a drive voltage generation circuit wherein a lowest voltage detection circuit is used as a feedback loop, N number of current drive circuits, and N or less than N number of voltage adjustment circuits. The N number of light emitting element groups each include one or more light emitting elements. The drive voltage generation circuit feeds a voltage source predetermined voltage to the N number of light emitting element groups. The N number of current drive circuits drive the N light emitting element groups with current through the voltage adjustment circuits. Of the N number of current drive circuits connected to the lowest voltage detection circuit, the one with the lowest voltage across itself is made the feedback loop of the drive voltage generation circuit. Even if the voltage across each light emitting element group is different from each other, the difference in the voltages across the current drive circuits are reduced by having the voltage adjustment circuits adjust the voltages to greater than or equal to the minimum voltage at which the current drive circuits can run.
