Abstract:
A light irradiation device (100) that irradiates a subject with light (200) is provided with: a light source (102); and a housing (110) having an opening (101) for outputting the light (200) to the outside, said light having been outputted from the light source (102). Furthermore, the light irradiation device is provided with: an optical sensor (103) disposed in the housing (110); and a control unit (104) that stops output of light of a predetermined quantity from the light source (102) in the cases where the optical sensor (103) detects external light inputted inward from the outside of the housing (110). With such configuration, breakage is detected on the basis of the external light inputted from a broken part of the housing (110) of the light irradiation device (100), thereby preventing the light of the predetermined quantity from being outputted from the broken part.
