Disclosed is a light-weight electric ground drill, comprising a mounting plate (5), a drill stem (6) and a housing (2); and further comprising an electric motor (4) for driving the rotation of the drill stem (6), a rechargeable battery (1) for powering the electric motor (4), and a controller (3) for controlling the electric motor (4), which are all mounted on the mounting plate (5), wherein the controller (3) is respectively electrically connected to the electric motor (4) and the rechargeable battery (1). Driven by the electric motor (4), the ground drill is less noisy, is more beneficial to the health of workers, causing less fatigue, and does not disturb residents. Since the drill is powered with the rechargeable battery (1) or municipal power supply, there is no pollution due to exhaust emission. The electric motor (4) is controlled by the controller (3) to have the function of forward and backward rotation, facilitating pulling out a drill bit (61). Driven by the electric motor (4), the ground drill has a simpler structure, is lighter in weight, can be operated more conveniently, and takes up less space.
