Abstract:
A lightweight liquid crystal display device, backlight module, and manufacturing method of a lightweight liquid crystal display device. The display device comprises a lower substrate (10), an upper substrate (20) provided above the lower substrate (10), and a lower polarizer (30), a thin film transistor array (40), a liquid crystal layer (50), and a color filter (60) sequentially arranged between the lower substrate (10) and the upper substrate (20) from bottom to top. An edge-lit light source (1) is provided beside the lower substrate (10), and a reflective layer is provided at a lower surface of the lower substrate (10). Backlight light is transmitted by means of the lower substrate (10) of a display panel, such that a backlight module is organically combined with the display panel without a dedicated light guide. In this way, the present invention significantly reduces the thickness, weight, and cost of the liquid crystal display device, and ensures normal display of the display device at the same time.
