Abstract:
The present invention provides a liquid crystal aligning agent which has a reduced risk of moisture absorption whitening and excellent mass production stability, and which enables the achievement of a liquid crystal alignment film that has a high voltage holding ratio; and a liquid crystal display element which is provided with this liquid crystal alignment film. A liquid crystal aligning agent which is characterized by comprising the component (A) described below. Component (A): At least one polymer (A) which is selected from the group consisting of copolymers that have a repeating unit represented by formula (a), a repeating unit represented by formula (1) and a repeating unit represented by formula (2), and polyimides that are imidized products of the copolymers, wherein at least one of the repeating unit represented by formula (a), the repeating unit represented by formula (1) and the repeating unit represented by formula (2) has a divalent organic group that is represented by formula (EG). (The substituents are as defined in the description.)
