Abstract:
Provided are: a liquid crystal alignment agent that enlarges the range of optical irradiation amounts at which it is possible to obtain a liquid crystal alignment film having low variation (non-uniformity) in the twist angle of liquid crystals within the surface of the liquid crystal alignment film, where the liquid crystal alignment agent forms a liquid crystal alignment film having a high water contact angle and is for obtaining a liquid crystal alignment film in which display unevenness caused by a cleaning step does not occur; a liquid crystal alignment film obtained from said liquid crystal alignment agent; and a high-performance liquid crystal display element comprising said liquid crystal alignment film. Provided is a liquid crystal alignment agent characterized by containing at least one polymer (P) selected from the group consisting of: a polyimide precursor obtained by using a diamine component including the diamine (0) represented by formula (DA); and a polyimide which is an imidization product of the polyimide precursor. Also provided are a liquid crystal alignment film obtained from said liquid crystal alignment agent and a liquid crystal display element equipped with said liquid crystal alignment film.
