Provided is a liquid crystal display device comprising: an IPS mode liquid crystal panel; and a first polarizing plate disposed on one surface of the IPS mode liquid crystal panel, wherein the first polarizing plate comprises a positive C-plate, a retardation layer and a first polarizer which are consecutively laminated from the IPS mode liquid crystal panel, wherein the retardation layer has an in-plane retardation (Re) of approximately 40 nm to 60 nm at a wavelength of approximately 550 nm, and a thickness-direction retardation (Rth) of approximately 100 nm to 150 nm at the wavelength of approximately 550 nm, and the positive C-plate has a thickness-direction retardation (Rth) of approximately -170 nm to -80 nm at the wavelength of approximately 550 nm.
