Abstract:
A liquid-crystal display (50) contains a first liquid-crystal display panel (12), a second liquid-crystal display panel (14), and a transparent member (13) sandwiched between the first and second liquid-crystal display panels (12, 14). The first liquid-crystal display panel (12) is provided with opposing substrates (20, 21) and a polymer-dispersed or polymer-network liquid-crystal layer (22) sandwiched between said substrates (20, 21). The second liquid-crystal display panel (14) is provided with opposing substrates (30, 31), a liquid-crystal layer (32) sandwiched between said substrates (30, 31), color filters (38) provided on one of said substrates (31), and two polarizing plates (42, 44) provided respectively on the two substrates (30, 31). The abovementioned transparent member (13) is in contact with one (20) of the abovementioned substrates and has a different index of refraction therefrom.
