Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a liquid crystal drive method and a liquid crystal display device driven by using a liquid crystal drive method capable of sufficiently reducing flicker and DC image persistence. The present invention provides a method for driving a liquid crystal by creating a potential difference between a pair of electrodes provided on either an upper or lower substrate. The polarity of the voltages respectively applied to the pair of electrodes is inverted and a planar electrode is provided on one and/or the other of the upper and lower substrate. In the liquid crystal drive method, the driving operation is performed by mutually replacing the values of a first offset voltage and a second offset voltage, when the first offset voltage is defined as a difference calculated by subtracting the voltage applied to the planar electrode from the average value of the positive polarity voltage and the negative polarity voltage applied to one of the pair of the electrodes, and the second offset voltage is defined as a difference calculated by subtracting the voltage applied to the planar electrode from the average value of the positive polarity voltage and the negative polarity voltage applied to the other of the pair of the electrodes.
