Abstract:
In the present invention, a liquid material is caused to fly and to be discharged at a high tact by means of a needle (12) moving at a high speed by means of a compact drive device. The present invention is provided with: a liquid chamber (51) that interconnects with a discharge opening (60) and to which a liquid material is supplied; a needle (12) of which the tip can advance/retreat within the liquid chamber; a drive device (2) that causes the advancing/retreating operation of the needle (12); and a displacement magnifying mechanism (3). This liquid droplet discharge device causes liquid droplets to fly and be discharged from the discharge opening (60). Also, in the liquid droplet discharge device, the drive device (2) comprises an even number of drive devices disposed in a left-right symmetrical manner, the displacement magnification mechanism (3) is provided with U-shaped members (5, 6, 7, 8, 9) that can elastically deform and to the bottom of which the needle (12) is connected, and each drive device (2) causes the needle (12) to move in a manner so as to retreat backwards by means of applying force causing both ends of the U-shaped members (5, 6, 7, 8, 9) to separate and causes the needle (12) to move in a manner so as to advance outwards by means of applying force causing both ends of the U-shaped members (5, 6, 7, 8, 9) to approach.
