Abstract:

Provided are a location management method, a control plane node, and a user equipment. The method comprises: a first control plane node determining first location area management information about a UE, wherein the first location area management information comprises N levels of location area identification lists and a periodic time value (PTV) and a reachable time value (RTV) corresponding to a location area identification list of each level among the N levels of location area identification lists; and executing paging management according to the first location area management information. In the process of executing paging management, the first control plane node determines a paging area from the areas that the N levels of location area identification lists belong to, and executes paging management only on the paging area, instead of executing paging management on all the areas corresponding to the N levels of location area identification lists. Since the scope of executing paging management is small, the signalling overheads of paging management can be reduced, and the purpose of balancing the signalling overheads of paging management and the signalling overheads of location updating management during the process of location management can be achieved.
