Abstract:
This machine tool comprises a drive unit that causes a movable cover to move on a rail, a cleaning means that removes foreign matter on the rail, and a body control unit that controls the drive unit so as to cause the movable cover to move on the rail. The machine tool furthermore comprises a sensing means that senses foreign matter on the rail. The body control unit is configured so as to: control the cleaning means so as to remove the foreign matter on the rail; and, when the sensing means does not sense foreign matter on the rail, or when the cleaning means has removed foreign matter on the rail after the sensing means has sensed the foreign matter on the rail, controls the drive unit so as to cause the movable cover to move on the rail.
