Abstract:
This machine tool comprises: a tool post having a plurality of holders capable of holding a plurality of tools; a machining control unit for controlling the tools held by the tool post to machine a workpiece; a tool stowing unit; a tool transporting unit; a schedule generating unit for generating a transportation schedule; and a tool transportation control unit for controlling the tool transporting unit in accordance with the transportation schedule. The schedule generating unit generates the transportation schedule as a tool transportation order for executing, in order: a first step for moving a tool already placed on the tool post to an empty holder, in accordance with pre-placement information indicating placement of the tool on the tool post before exchange, and target placement information indicating the placement of the tool after transportation; and a second step for causing the empty holder of the tool post to hold a tool stowed in the tool stowing unit.
