Title:
MAGNESIUM ALLOY MEMBER AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2013/157376
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is a magnesium alloy member that satisfies elongation requirements and 0.2% proof stress at the same time so as to have excellent strength and workability while having further strength and compressive residual stress near the surface thereof and is suitable for use in a product that is primarily subject to bending stress and/or torsional stress. The member is made of a wire rod of magnesium alloy used in a member which is primarily subject to bending stress and/or torsional strength, has a portion where the maximum hardness near the surface is at least 170HV, has 0.2% proof stress of at least 550MPa and elongation of at least 5% within the wire rod, and has a maximum compressive residual stress near the surface of at least 50MPa.
