The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a magnesium oxide powder comprising specific magnesium oxide particles, said magnesium oxide powder being capable of suppressing an increase in viscosity when filled in a resin and imparting a high heat conductivity to a resin composition that contains the resin; and a filler composition, a resin composition and a heat dissipating component each containing the magnesium oxide powder. The magnesium oxide powder according to the present invention comprises magnesium oxide particles, wherein: among the magnesium oxide particles, the average sphericity of magnesium oxide particles, which have a projected area equivalent diameter of the cross-section of the particles measured by the microscopic method of 10 μm or more, is 0.73-0.95 inclusive; among the magnesium oxide particles, the ratio of magnesium oxide particles having a sphericity of 0.65 or less is 20% or less based on the particle number; and among the magnesium oxide particles, the ratio of magnesium oxide particles having a sphericity of 0.55 or less is 15% or less based on the particle number.
