Abstract:
A magnetic sensor element comprises a magnetic body layer (2), a buffer layer (3) formed thereon, and a magnetic sensing portion (7) consisting of a magnetoresistive effect element fabricated by forming a magnetization fixed layer (4), a nonmagnetic body layer (5) and a magnetization free layer (6) sequentially on the buffer layer (3). Furthermore, a buffer layer (8) formed to sandwich the magnetic sensing portion (7) together with the buffer layer (3), and a bias layer (10) formed on the magnetic body layer (2) through a nonconductor layer (9) on the opposite sides of a portion consisting of the buffer layer (3), the magnetic sensing portion (7) and the buffer layer (8) are provided, and a proximity field light generating portion (14) consisting of a magnetic body layer (11), a dielectric layer (12) and a metal body layer (13) is formed on the surface thereof. Consequently, a magnetic sensor element capable of efficient light assist reproduction of a magnetic recording medium, a magnetic reproduction head and a magnetic reproducer employing that element, and a magnetic reproduction method of a magnetic recording medium employing that magnetic reproducer are obtained.
