The present disclosure relates to a management method and apparatus for an instant messaging session, and an electronic device and a medium. The method comprises: a user performing a trigger operation on a target label, and displaying a first interface in response to the trigger operation on the target label, wherein the first interface comprises a session sorting setting item, and the session sorting setting item is used by the user to select a target session sorting mode from among at least two session sorting modes. Therefore, a user can flexibly select a target session sorting mode by means of a session sorting setting item, and in response to an operation of selecting the target session sorting mode by means of the session sorting setting item, sessions corresponding to a target label are sorted according to the target session sorting mode. Since optional session sorting modes in a session sorting setting item comprise at least two session sorting modes, a user can select a target session sorting mode from among the at least two session sorting modes according to requirements, such that the flexibility of sorting instant messaging sessions is improved.
