Abstract:
This processed article manufacturing method involves preparing a metal-containing workpiece 10, and, along the surface 10a of the workpiece 10, forming multiple first regions α and a second region β by irradiation with a laser L. A tension residual stress is imparted to the multiple first regions α. The laser L, by which a compressive residual stress is imparted to the second region β, is irradiated on multiple irradiation locations P separated from each other on the surface 10a of the workpiece 10. The first regions α are formed so as to be separated from each other and surrounded by the second region β when viewed from the direction perpendicular to the surface 10a.
