Abstract:
A map data creating system enables creation of a highly accurate and fresh map database
by improving the efficiency of the work for creating and updating the map database.
The system comprises a feature database (2) for storing feature information
(F) which is information about features such as roads and things present around
roads and related to respective unique identification codes (IDf) includes
arrangement information (F1) representing the spatial arrangement of the features
independent of the road network (R) having links (L) connecting two or more nodes
(N) having position information, shape information (F2) representing the shapes
of the features, accuracy information (F3a) representing the accuracy of information,
and acquisition time information (F3b) representing the time of acquisition
of information; output means (8) for outputting the feature information (F)stored
in the feature database (2); and input means (5) for inputting map information (M)
constituting a map database (3) and created according to the feature information (F)
outputted by the output means (8).
