Abstract:
Provided is a mat (1) that makes it possible to promote breathing when lying on one's back. This mat (1) comprises a back support section (3). The back support section (3) comprises: a spinal column support section (8) that continuously supports the lumbar vertebrae that include at least the spinal column of the back of a person lying down on their back from the first lumbar vertebra to the twelfth thoracic vertebra, and a position corresponding to portion continuously having three or more thoracic vertebrae; and a pair of inferior serratus posterior muscle correspondence sections (9) that are disposed on either side in the width direction of the spinal column support section (8) and are disposed below positions corresponding to the pair of left and right inferior serratus posterior muscles of the person lying down on their back. The pair of inferior serratus posterior muscle correspondence sections (9) and the spinal column support section (8) are configured so that the body pressure from the pair of inferior serratus posterior muscle correspondence sections (9) is lower than the body pressure from the spinal column support section (8).
