Abstract:
A material used as a normal surface protecting material for civil engineering works, a water-contacting material or a filter medium for forming biological films for the biological water treatment of an air-exposing or non-air-exposing system, an underwater cultivation bed for plants, such as laver, a man-made gathering place for fishes and a hydroponic nursery, which material includes at least one sheet material having predetermined levels of flexibility and rigidity, and at least one rope material fixed to the sheet material so as to extend wavily thereon, the sheet material having a plurality of cuts which are adapted to be opened when the rope material is stretched from the wavily extending state, in such a manner that the sheet material is deformed to form a plurality of flap-like parts standing with respect to the axis of the rope material; a method of manufacturing this material; and a normal surface-protecting method and a normal frame-constructing method which use the same material.
