Abstract:
A media unit transmission method and apparatus. The method comprises: a user plane network element receiving a media unit, wherein the media unit comprises a plurality of data packets; the user plane network element setting marker information for the media unit, wherein the marker information is used for determining that the media unit is a media unit that is allowed to be discarded; and the user plane network element sending the media unit, which carries the marker information. By means of the method, all data packets comprised in a media unit can be discarded by means of taking the media unit as granularity, such that a significant reduction in video quality due to random discarding of the data packets is avoided.
