Abstract:
Provided are a medicine inspection assistance device, an image processing device, an image processing method, and a program that appropriately recognize identification information regardless of whether the identification information is engraved or printed. This image processing device acquires a plurality of photographed images of a second medicine, the plurality of photographed images being taken such that directions in which light illuminates the surface of the second medicine are different from each other, generates a first highlighted image by performing a process of highlighting an engraved portion of the second medicine, generates a second highlighted image by performing a process of highlighting a printed portion of the second medicine, compares between a master image and an image specified by specification information that specifies which of the first highlighted image and the second highlighted image is to be used for comparison, and determines whether or not a first medicine and the second medicine are the same.
