Abstract:
[Problem] The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a membrane electrode assembly in which adhesive strength at the interface between a polymer electrolyte membrane and a catalyst layer is high and it is difficult for the catalyst layer to peel away from the polymer electrolyte membrane; a method for producing the membrane electrode assembly; and a fuel battery that comprises the membrane electrode assembly and has excellent battery performance. [Solution] The method for producing the membrane electrode assembly (4) involves directly applying an ink containing a solvent to adjacent layers and bonding the adjacent layers while slightly dissolving an interface polymer electrolyte in order to form an adhesive layer (2) and the catalyst layer (3). It is therefore possible to increase the adhesive strength of the interface between the polymer electrolyte membrane (1) and the catalyst layer (3) compared with the adhesive strength obtained in a production method in which an adhesive layer and a catalyst layer provided on separate substrates are separately heated and pressed. Furthermore, the membrane electrode assembly (4) has high adhesive strength at the interface between the polymer electrolyte membrane (1) and the catalyst layer (3), and it is difficult for the catalyst layer (3) to peel away from the polymer electrolyte membrane (1). Moreover, the fuel battery in which the membrane electrode assembly (4) is used has superior battery performance because it is difficult for the catalyst layer (3) to peel away from the polymer electrolyte membrane (1).
