Abstract:

The present invention relates to the field of data storage, and provided thereby are a metadata query method and device which are used for improving metadata search efficiency. The described method is applicable to chain snapshots and comprises: receiving a metadata query request, the metadata query request comprising a volume identifier and a data block identifier of a first snapshot volume (301); according to the volume identifier of the first snapshot volume, acquiring a first timing identifier from the first snapshot volume, the first timing identifier being used to indicate the creation timing of the first snapshot volume (302); querying historical index information according to the data block identifier and the first timing identifier, the historical index information comprising a correspondence relationship between a query data block identifier and historical query snapshot information (303); and when the data block identifier is present and the first time timing identifier is in a corresponding query timing interval, acquiring a corresponding target volume identifier from the historical index information, and acquiring address metadata corresponding to the data block identifier from a second snapshot volume indicated by the target volume identifier (304).
