Provided is a methanation reactor capable of achieving uniformity in a reaction through a simple configuration and suppressing any catalyst deterioration. This methanation reactor brings a raw material gas containing hydrogen and carbon dioxide into contact with a catalyst to produce a methane-containing gas, the methanation reactor being characterized by comprising a double tube having an inner tube and an outer tube, and a catalyst disposed between the outer peripheral surface of the inner tube and the inner peripheral surface of the outer tube, and the methanation reactor moreover being characterized in that: the inner tube includes a raw-material-gas supply port disposed at one end in the axial direction, and a plurality of communication ports that are disposed at a plurality of locations at prescribed intervals in the axial direction of the inner tube, that allow communication between the inner peripheral surface and the outer peripheral surface of the inner tube, and that open into the outer tube; and the methanation reactor also comprises an adjusting device for adjusting the opening degree of the plurality of communication ports.
