Title:
METHOD FOR ANTIMICROBIAL PROCESSING OF CERAMIC WARE USING ANTIMICROBIAL COMPOSITION FOR GLAZE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2012/002205
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The purpose is to obtain an antimicrobial-processed ceramic ware. Provided is a method whereby a sanitary ware, tile or the like can be economically antimicrobial-processed and thus an antimicrobial ceramic ware showing long-lasting antimicrobial properties can be obtained. When treated by the existing antimicrobial processing methods, sanitary wares, tiles, etc., which are fired at a high temperature, can hardly exhibit antimicrobial performance and, therefore, a large amount of expensive silver-based materials should be used therein. Also provided is an antimicrobial ceramic ware. The aforesaid purpose is achieved by providing an antimicrobial composition for glaze, which comprises a powder of at least one silver-based material selected from among silver metal, silver oxide and a silver salt together with a specific zirconium phosphate powder, and an antimicrobial processing method comprising applying said antimicrobial composition on the surface of a ceramic ware and then firing the same.
