A method and apparatus for controlling an unmanned aerial vehicle, and the unmanned aerial vehicle. During the movement of the unmanned aerial vehicle, an operation instruction inputted by a user by means of a remote control device of the unmanned aerial vehicle can be received, a target direction that the user expects a camera of the unmanned aerial vehicle to face is determined on the basis of the operation instruction, and then a gimbal carrying the camera on the unmanned aerial vehicle can be controlled to move so as to adjust the camera to the target direction and acquire an image in the target direction. Moreover, a power mechanism on the unmanned aerial vehicle can be controlled to move to drive the unmanned aerial vehicle to adjust a pose, so that the orientation of a perception sensor, that is fixedly connected to a fuselage, on the unmanned aerial vehicle is adjusted to other direction different from the target direction. By adjusting the orientation of the perception sensor to be different from the orientation of the camera, a large observation access can be obtained in combination, the receptive field of the unmanned aerial vehicle can be increased, and the flight safety of the unmanned aerial vehicle can be improved.
