Title:
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETECTING HYDROGEN PEROXIDE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2010/093052
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The presence of a hydrogen peroxide steam can be detected with high sensitivity. An oxygen molecule contained in air is ionized by means of an electron generated by discharge plasma to produce an oxygen molecule negative ion O2 -. The oxygen molecule negative ion O2 - thus produced is supplied to a space in which a hydrogen peroxide molecule H2O2 is to be detected. When a hydrogen peroxide molecule H2O2 is present, a cluster ion O2 -(H2O2) between the oxygen molecule negative ion O2 - and the hydrogen peroxide molecule H2O2 is generated. Therefore, the hydrogen peroxide molecule H2O2 can be detected by mass spectrometry of the cluster ion. Besides the oxygen molecule negative ion O2 -, other gas phase negative ions such as a chloride ion Cl- may be used.
