Disclosed are a method and apparatus for generating an emotional recognition model. The method comprises: collecting male and female physiological signals, wherein the physiological signals comprise electrocardiogram signals, electromyography signals, respiratory signals and skin signals; extracting male characteristic values from the collected male physiological signals and extracting female characteristic values from the collected female physiological signals; iterating, according to a first pointed algorithm, the male characteristic values and the female characteristic values to form a first optimal characteristic subset, wherein the first optimal characteristic subset comprises: an optimal characteristic subset when the male is clam or happy, an optimal characteristic subset when the male is calm or sad, an optimal characteristic subset when the male is calm or scared, an optimal characteristic subset when the female is calm or happy, an optimal characteristic subset when the female is calm or sad and an optimal characteristic subset when the female is calm or scared; and generating, according to the first optimal characteristic subset, a corresponding emotional recognition model. By means of the method, an emotional recognition model for accurately recognizing emotion can be generated.
